Good morning from New York!
I'm still basking in the glow of time spent away from the home office, on the Cape, Nantucket, and in Newport, Rhode Island, where I once lived (many, many years ago). I feel refreshed and ready to take on my next assignment (after posting this forecast), which is serving as a poll worker in tomorrow's…
Though I am not a psychic, I anticipate a victory for Kamala Harris, based on my interpretation of planetary patterns. Other astrologers may come to different conclusions (and they have), but this is how I see it.
Several forecasts ago I noted that sometimes we can have greater clarity about the future when looking at it from a distance. The closer we get to an anticipated event (e.g., an election), the deeper we are in the proverbial forest, which we then can't see for the trees. This is especially true now, with Jupiter in Gemini, blowing up all that is trivial and distracting, and also blowing up the often bewildering, beweirding, U.S. Mars (in Gemini) - Neptune (in Virgo) square. Cool. I just coined a new word.
I've been writing about the horoscope of Kamala Harris since at least September 2018 (possibly earlier, if I were to delve deeper into the archives). In September of 2018, I observed:
I am seeing that application of energy on (then SCOTUS nominee Brett) Kavanaugh’s potential mask of deception (a.k.a. his natal Neptune). Watch him hem and haw in response to a direct question posed Wednesday night — after the live coverage ended — by Kamala Harris (D-CA). We could expect Senator Harris’s mindset and communication to be innovative and disruptive right about now, with her Mercury in depth-seeking Scorpio feeling the provocative buzz of that Mars-Uranus square. Earlier this year, Uranus was opposing her 27 Libra Sun while sitting right on top of her 27 Aries Moon, intensifying her crusading initiative. It is not surprising to learn that she got a book deal in July — with a publication date set for next year. A quick glance ahead looks like extraordinary recognition and reward in 2019. The upside potential for 2020 suggests ambitious drive, with further recognition received at the end of the year and into 2021. Here is her horoscope.
In June 2019, with her first presidential campaign underway, I included Kamala's horoscope in my column, "Charts in the News", published in Mountain Astrologer. Here is the last paragraph:
As daunting as 2020 seems, it ends on an expansive note
for Harris. In December, transiting Jupiter follows in Saturn’s
footsteps. On December 19, another solar arc suggesting
once-in-a-lifetime personal recognition will be exact: SA Sun =
Ascendant. Whatever Election Day brings for Kamala Harris, the
aftermath looks just fine.
In June 2021, I wrote about Kamala for TMA again, closing with:
However she meets the challenges of 2022, it sets her
up for what is often a career peak: transiting Saturn conjunct
the MC, with the first pass exact in March 2023. For the VP,
this potential for taking on greater authority comes with the
urgency of her second Saturn return, with its first pass exact
in February 2023.
In November 2022, I made a bet. I am not typically a betting person, perhaps because my competitive Aries Sun doesn't like to lose, and my 2nd house Saturn specifically doesn't like to lose money. So the bet I made was very small. In hindsight, I expect I may regret not betting more:
I don't recall if I was thinking at the time that Kamala would be the Democratic nominee in 2024, but I definite recall thinking that she would step in whenever Biden stepped down. And remember, looking at the 2024 election from a distance in early 2023 (when Jupiter was still in Aries), planetary patterns in the horoscopes of Biden and Trump were volatile enough that it wasn't clear (to me) that they would be on the ballot. Then Jupiter (expansion and reward) entered Taurus (which needs to keep things the same), where it stayed until May 2024, and it looked like we'd have the same game as we did in 2020. Ahhhh -- but then, Jupiter entered Gemini, along with other patterns you can read about in posts from the summer, and set the stage for big change.
Meanwhile, patterns in Kamala's horoscope in 2024 and over the next few months are as follows -- and please note that there's a ton of astro-jargon here, as I'm writing this for Avid Readers, as well as for a forum of dedicated astrology students and professionals. If jargon doesn't interest you, please skip these paragraphs and read the forecast for the week.
Transiting Pluto square Mercury, suggesting empowered, persuasive communication and personal projects (since Mercury rules her Gemini ASC). Exact on 3/10/24, 6/27/24, and mid-January; continuing into Fall 2025.
Transiting Uranus conjunct Jupiter, suggesting a windfall opportunity and/or an investment that pays off. Exact on 5/28/24, 12/18/24, and mid-March.
Transiting Jupiter square her Virgo stellium (Venus, Uranus & Pluto). First hits happened over four weeks, starting in late July; second hits start on 11/25/24 through 12/31/24; third hits start in mid-March 2025. These suggest expansion and reward, generally.
Transiting Saturn opposing the Virgo stellium, with first hit starting end of March until mid-May 2024; second hit starting mid-August through October 20 (her 60th birthday); third hit starting mid-December through February 4, 2025. These suggest disciplined effort, for better or worse
Humming in the background are significant developments in her solar arcs, which many astrologers do not use (solar arcs, to those not fluent in the language of astrology, are another way of measuring time). It's fine that many astrologers do not use them, as there are plenty of techniques to choose from (e.g., annual profections and zodiacal releasing, etc.). To me, solar arcs are essential, and I am grateful to my teacher Noel Tyl for drumming this into my head.
In my experience, solar arcs set the tone for the year, and what Kamala Harris has are three solar arcs involving her Mercury (how she needs to think), and her Sun and Moon that are are within range of the Aries Point, and thus suggest prominence. Her solar arc (SA) Mercury is almost past the AP, but the ones to the Sun and the Moon will be within range for the next four years. They are gaining in strength, and we can use the transits in her horoscope to anticipate when and how her increased prominence over the next four years will likely develop. From her current position as VP of the United States, how could she possibly fulfill the potential for increased prominence if not to become President? This is the astro-logic.
Other measurements I considered which (to me) support a win include:
Venus is on the Ascendant of her most recent solar return (SR). This suggests likeability, for one -- useful if you're running for office. Not only that, but Venus in that SR is at 3 degrees Sagittarius, with a 2 degrees Sagittarius Ascendant. Fun fact: President Biden's Ascendant is 3 Sagittarius (with an 8:30 AM birth time); 2 degrees Sagittarius (with an 8:29 AM birth time, as astrologer Kathy Rose has proposed). To me, this synchronicity is significant.
Speaking of Biden, the tertiary progressions (TPs are yet another way astrologers can measure time) for him on November 5 through November 6 suggest exceptional fulfillment (and are one reason why I thought that he would defeat Trump if he stayed in the race). He may be driven to extremes in late December re: his Moon-in-Taurus need to preserve the status quo, material comfort and calm. We see this as transiting Pluto squares his Taurus Moon for the last pass, with the same pattern by SA in mid-April, and thus in effect now. Transiting Mars squares his Moon on November 6th and January 3rd; this is provocative and may require a courageous, proactive response. Transiting Jupiter, ruler of his Ascendant, squares his MC on November 7th; this could suggest an expansive reach. But hey -- he's immune, so long as it's an official act, right SCOTUS?
Back to Kamala. We see a cluster of transits and TPs involving Venus, Moon and/or Sun and ASC around Election Day, and again on Inauguration Day. To me these suggest fulfillment.
In contrast, whilst Trump also has a cluster of Venus transits (but no TPs) right about now (which likely convinced NBC to give him "equal time" after his whining about Kamala Harris's joyful appearance in SNL's cold open -- here it is ICYMI), Trump has SA Saturn = Mercury exact on November 5th. This is a weighty pattern, consistent with possible depression, reality checks and controls on mental processes, and heavy responsibility/accountability. It could suggest a disciplined strategic approach requiring great effort. It could suggest authoritarian (Saturn) thinking and communication (Mercury), consistent with declaring himself the winner before the results are in.
It will be interesting to see what disruption occurs around December 10th, when Trump has the second hit of Uranus on his 24 Taurus Midheaven, which will likely be connected to whatever illumination of his public status comes out in the aftermath of the November 15th Full Moon at 24 Taurus (which is Kamala's Jupiter, FYI).
Patterns around Inauguration Day include the provocative transits of Mars to his Venus and Saturn, which -- as noted many times in Why Now News -- rarely put his Venus-ruled Midheaven in a favorable light, and Mars in his horoscope refers to court opinions, internationalism and publishing. Unlike the aftermath of the 2016 election, there are no empowering, resourceful arcs and transits involving Pluto and Jupiter, no solar arcs blooming at the Aries Point (in 2016 he had Venus and Saturn = AP), and there is no secondary progressed Moon-Venus conjunct on Inauguration Day, as there was in 2017.
As for JD Vance, we can appreciate extreme efforts to dominate in recent days and again during the first week of January, as transiting Mars (action, anger, aggression) squares his Pluto (power and resources).
We don't have a birth time for Tim Walz, Hakeem Jeffries, or Mike Johnson. I wish we did. I am hopeful that the Democrats will regain control of the House and maintain control of the Senate.
We do have a birth time for Nancy Pelosi, and I have learned not to ignore her horoscope. As it was earlier this year when she apparently was one of the key players in convincing President Biden to pass the torch to Kamala Harris, Pelosi's horoscope is under high developmental tension on Election Day and in mid-December, and again during the first week of January, especially on January 4th. For some reason, she has a fight on her hands and/or must make an extreme effort with high stakes. Whatever it is will reflect transiting Mars as it challenges her natal Saturn-Pluto square this week and in early January, whilst transiting Pluto does its thing (for the last of five passes in two years) on December 18th and 21st. So far, she seems to have won every battle she's fought under this transit of Pluto.
In sum...
