Monday 7/7/2025: Uranus in Gemini; Full Moon in Capricorn; Saturn Retrograde; US Uranus Return
PLUS: Why all these long Moon VOIDS?
Allllrighty then!
First, a shout-out of concern for Avid Readers in Texas and North Carolina. I hope you were not harmed by the shocking floods. Tropical Depression Chantal wreaked havoc in Durham and Chapel Hill last night. Dozens are dead and others still missing in central Texas.
Second, a warm welcome to new Avid Readers, and a big thank you to patron subscribers of Why Now News. May you all find these forecasts informative and entertaining. This one was a 12-hour production.
I've been writing this forecast since April 2009. Current planetary patterns are simply unprecedented, especially now with Uranus entering Gemini. There is a heavy concentration of outer planets in the early part (early degrees) of their signs:
Pluto is at 3 Aquarius
Neptune is at 2 Aries
Uranus is at 0 Gemini
Saturn is at 1 Aries
Jupiter is at 6 Cancer
Mars, Venus, and Mercury are in the early half of their respective signs
What this means is that until September, when Saturn retrogrades back into the end of Pisces, we are going to have more than one looooooooong Moon void each week. This continues a trend we've experienced in recent weeks; i.e, the Moon is supercharged by contact with the heavy outer planets in a concentrated period of time, followed by a long void. The needs represented by whatever sign Moon is traveling in run away with the day, as I learned from working in a newsroom.
Once upon a time, I wrote and produced promos at CNBC, and I can’t tell you how many times I’d get an assignment during a Moon void that was deemed an absolute top priority — until suddenly it wasn’t (once the void was over). Meanwhile, my editor and I would be encountering any number of odd twists in our efforts to get the spot done. Eventually I started alerting my editor that the Moon was void, and that the project would go away after our hair-on-fire effort, and darned if he didn't start believing me. Astrology is amazing.
General Moon-void coping strategies are to roll with the likely twists and flakes, and don't make a mountain out of a molehill. Crises which crop up are often much ado about nothing, resolved after the Moon gets going in the next sign. Stick to routine concerns, avoid launching new initiatives. Take time to wander and chill if you can.
Meanwhile...
After today's Venus-Pluto trine, there will be no exact aspects among the planets except to the Moon until...July 18th, when Mercury sextiles Venus and then goes retrograde. I've noticed a tendency for entities to collapse during these long stretches of time, driven only by the Moon. Imagine an ice shelf suddenly collapsing into the sea, altering the landscape forever. Now you see it; now you don't. Just like that. One example was the death of Queen Elizabeth.
Last week, Neptune was slowing to a virtual standstill as it prepared to turn retrograde on Friday, demanding our focus like a blaring car horn. Neptune refers to floods, and there is a sobering astro-logic to Friday morning's devastating flood in Texas, especially given the action of the Moon and Venus that day:
FRIDAY. First, at 5:32 AM ET, Moon ditches Libra for Scorpio, changing the game plan to one of consolidating knowledge for the sake of power and control. This need is driven to extremes in the morning, reflecting Moon's weekly clash with Pluto at 11:45 AM ET. Second, at 8:45 AM ET, the Venus-Uranus conjunction is exact, surprise, surprise...
Venus refers to women. Initially, the biggest shock reported in the media was the number of girls missing at a summer camp called...Camp Mystic. Neptune refers to mystics...and wipe-outs. At last report, 27 campers and/or counselors died, with others still missing. Terrible, horrible news.
This week, it is Saturn slowing to a virtual standstill, as it prepares to turn retrograde at 12:07 AM ET on Sunday. The car horn this week is blaring on themes of authority, karma, cuts, losses, death, ambition, structure, and necessary controls.
A recap of this week's highlights:
Uranus enters Gemini on Monday
Venus trines Pluto on Monday
Full Moon in Capricorn on Thursday
Saturn goes retrograde on Sunday
It goes like this:
MONDAY: Uranus enters Gemini at 3:45 AM ET.
A pause, while we discuss this event. Uranus changes signs every seven years.
Uranus is a lightning bolt. It is a maverick and a rebel. It awakens, shatters, and creates chaos. Uranus refers to genetic mutations and innovations. Add astrology, aviation, technology -- and anything that goes against the "norm." If your horoscope is having an Uranus transit, you will be motivated to make changes and/or demand your independence intensely. Uranus events may be seismic.
Gemini refers early to learning, especially elementary education. Gemini refers to words in forms of expression: writing, languages, speech. Gemini is the sign of the Twins; ergo, Gemini refers to doubles. Double talk, double standards. Gemini refers to sales and marketing. Planets in Gemini seek a clever, informed, entertaining expression. Gemini rules the hands and shoulders. Watch for technology (Uranus) to disrupt these arenas. Watch also for themes of rebellion and clashes over freedom...of speech and in matters of early education.
Gemini is an Air sign, so we can expect disruptions, innovation, revolutions, and sudden fractures in communication and transportation networks, databases, aviation, and astrology. Watch for intense, sudden thunderstorms and high winds.
Most importantly, Gemini refers to diversification, i.e., fragmentation; i.e., fractures.
The ingress of Uranus into Gemini will intensify what we experienced during Jupiter's trek through Gemini (May 2024 - May 2025), and the months-long Mars retrograde in Gemini we had in late 2022 through early 2023.
Mars = war. Mars in Gemini = a war on -- or of -- words. Since 2022, we've seen an increase in defamation lawsuits, as in, "You can't say that. I will sue you."
Jupiter = expansion. Jupiter = publishing. Jupiter in Gemini = an expansion and fragmentation of information sources. Right? Reporters are ditching mainstream outlets and flying solo on platforms like Substack. The outlets are fragmenting and fracturing. Media sources can't be counted on to tell the same story, thus stoking division. Humanity is literally not on the same channel.
Uranus will test the waters in Gemini until November 7th. Then it backs into Taurus, wrapping up its mission of disruption in matters of money, real estate, possessions, agriculture -- all thing related to the material comfort and security. This will impact the U.S. horoscope, as Uranus will square the US Moon at 27 Aquarius for the first three months of 2026, electrifying our nation's need for unique social significance within the construct of a group. E pluribus unum and all that.
Uranus fully commits to Gemini in April 2026, where it will be until 2032/2033.
As explained in last week's Zoom Q & A (with charts!), the US horoscope has Uranus in Gemini. The birth of the US was a literal Declaration of Independence, i.e., freedom from the tyranny of kings. With Uranus entering Gemini, the US will soon have its third Uranus return. The first one was at the beginning of the Civil War, when we fought the good fight against slave masters. The second one coincided with D-Day, when we fought the good fight against the Nazis. The third one will occur between July 2027 and May 2028, with an extended stay in September-October 2027. I will not be surprised if we have reason to fight the good fight against tyranny again.
You are more personally affected by the first dip of Uranus into Gemini if you have planets or angles around 1 degree Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, and Pisces. Off the top of my head that includes Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Prince Andrew, Ghislaine Maxwell, Paul Ryan, Ivana Trump, and Al Franken. Consult your local astrologer for details.
Back to the forecast.
MONDAY: Moon in Sagittarius drives the start of the work week with a need to enthusiastically push boundaries and influence others with its righteous opinion. Now is the time to broaden your horizons. Take a gamble or a gambol in nature. Go see a foreign film. Think outside the box. At 4:43 AM ET, Venus trined Pluto, suggesting power plays in matters of women, money, and the arts. Having failed to secure 90 deals in 90 days, as promised, as I write this forecast, the convicted felon's regime is "threatening Japan and S. Korea (and other countries) with tariffs," says the NYT. That article might be paywalled, but that's what the headline says. Communication that flows may well be aggressive, as Moon trines Mercury at 5 PM ET and then squares Mars in perfection-seeking Virgo. Whatever the conflict, CHILL for the next 35 hours, as the Moon will be void starting now and all through...
TUESDAY. But this will not stop the Sagittarius Moon's need to opine and push boundaries from running wild all day, like our proverbial snowball rolling down a mountain.
WEDNESDAY: At 4:54 AM ET, Capricorn Moon takes the helm, now seeking to Make Things Happen. At 8:36 AM and 9:04 AM ET, that need gets off to a streamlined, rocky and/or bonkers start, courtesy of Moon's square to Saturn and Neptune. The need to administer progress continues all day, building to a possible overdose of confidence, as Moon opposes Jupiter at 5:59 PM ET. FYI, today marks a culmination of one of three key patterns in the CF's horoscope this month. Today's suggests extremes of desire in matters of money, values, and worth, as well as compulsiveness and a wasting of emotion. Watch the headlines.
THURSDAY: Yesterday's big push is put into action by Moon's trine to Mars at 6:10 AM ET. Up and at 'em, everyone. Achieving the goal drives the day; emotions are on the rise. At 4:36 PM ET, the Full Moon in Capricorn occurs....and whatever the illumination, CHILL for the next 21 hours, as the Moon will be void.
Here is the chart for the Full Moon in Capricorn, set in Washington, D.C.
Observations:
Capricorn Moon’s need to take care of business, strategize and utilize resources (including people) opposes the energy of the Cancer Sun, which is centered on building home and homeland security, with feeling. It doesn’t matter how it feels; it just needs to get done -- for better or worse.
Sun and Moon in the 8th and 2nd houses - respectively, illuminate the US finances, values, and self-worth, and how those resources will be used to manage other people -- likely via taxes and/or debt.
There is an obsessive-compulsive connection between Sun's homeland security energy and Pluto. Power and resources and the Power That Be are employed in the extreme, especially in matters of documents, mindset, and communication.
Disruptive Uranus opposes the Scorpio Ascendant; shake-ups are in store, stemming from partnerships and open enemies.
Chart ruler Mars is in the 10th house -- of leaders and public status. Aggressive energies seeking a perfect execution are clear to see. Interestingly, Mercury -- which rules the 1oth house -- is in the faraway 9th house, with no connection to any other planet. It is in regal Leo -- without dignity.
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon is "a child of about five with a huge shopping bag." I've always assumed it was a shopping bag of department store purchases, but Sabian Symbol specialist Blain Bovee assumes it's a bag of groceries. He wonders what else the child might be shopping for, e.g., "for agreement, for approval or recognition from others, out of circumstances that have placed big responsibilities -- beyond their years -- in their hands." Could they carry it if the bag was filled?
That's an intriguing question, given that this Full Moon falls on the 18 Capricorn Mercury and squares the 18 Libra Moon in the horoscope of the 2025 inauguration chart. In that chart, Mercury rules matters of money, values, and working conditions/enslavement. The Moon is in the house of labor, enslavement, systems of process, and disease, rule the area of communication, documents, and transportation.
This Full Moon activates the 19 Libra Moon of JD Vance, which was eclipsed in April 2024.
Bovee suggests we apply this Symbol with a mind to "awareness of arithmetic, i.e., do the numbers add up?" Watch for examples of "a missed childhood due to circumstances concerning the welfare of others; incapacitated or absent parents; caring for siblings."
What else do you see?
Back to the forecast:
FRIDAY: If you didn't take Thursday off, you could sleep in or cut out early for a weekend escape. The Capricorn Moon is void until 1:21 PM ET, when it enters Aquarius. But if you're working or getting any other project done, the Aquarius Moon's need to be socially significant and/or unusual is well-supported in the afternoon. Why not BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER in preparation for next week's Mercury retrograde? Moon trines Uranus (innovation/technology) at 1:42 PM ET and sextiles Saturn (structure) and Neptune (vision) at 4:54 PM ET and 5:20 PM ET. At 6:41 PM ET Moon meets up with Pluto, facilitating emotional catharses and deep focus.
SATURDAY: A pleasant morning is sponsored by Moon's trine to chatty pixie Venus in Gemini, exact at 5:07 AM ET. Communication might be confrontational, as the group-focused Aquarius Moon opposes Mercury in Leo, which needs to take everything personally. If so, after that face-off at 3:45 PM ET, plan to CHILL for the next 28 hours, as the Moon will be VOID. Impulse purchases are not advised during Moon voids, because of the higher than average possibility that the item won't live up to expectations. Order your big-ticket items when the Moon is not void.
SUNDAY: Saturn turns retrograde at 12:07 AM ET. A retrograde planet suggests turning inward re: whatever that planet represents. Saturn refers to plans, structure, discipline and ambition, and its retrograde period suggests there may be delays and revisions to plans we thought might come to fruition over the next four months. Most importantly, Saturn refers to authority, so looking inward for authority -- not outward -- is an apt exercise. In Aries, we can expect a review of controls and definitions of identity, as the mantra for Aries is "I AM."
SUNDAY (cont.): Saturn turns retrograde at 1 degrees of Aries and will back up to 25 degrees Pisces before turning direct on November 27th. It will take until March 2nd for Saturn to return to where it is right now. You’re more personally affected by this Saturn retrograde if you were born at the beginning of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn...or if you have planets around 1 degree of those signs. William Shatner, Elizabeth Warren, Curtis Yarvin, the Affordable Care Act, Prince William, and Ghislaine Maxwell come to mind.
SUNDAY (cont.): At 7:44 PM ET, Moon enters Pisces. Now its focus is on Empathy, intuition and a need to work with ideals, impressions and other intangibles. Or, given the apparent lull among the planets...and these long Moon voids...and that Mercury turns retrograde on Friday, July 18th...you could go with the flow and head to the nearest body of water and recharge.

Let the record show that the gazillion-dollar Venice wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez was an apt reflection of that week's Sun (leaders) - Jupiter (ginormous) conjunction in Cancer, square to fairytale Neptune. Please note that Cancer rules the breasts, and thus, this article is aptly timed. And it's just been rumored -- on a day with Venus (fashion) trine Pluto (power) -- that Bezos is buying Vogue as a wedding gift for his bride.

File this under the Venus-Uranus conjunction at the verrrrrrrry end of material-comfort seeking Taurus. Venus refers to money, food, and real estate. Uranus disrupts.

File this under Uranus entering Gemini, which is likely to spark news of intensely disruptive fractures:
"Elon Musk says he will form a new political party," and because Jupiter is in patriotic/nationalistic Cancer, the party is called 'America."
Fun fact: in the horoscope for the 119th Congress, transiting Uranus is about to activate its Moon-Venus conjunction at 0 Pisces. Translation: a possible fracturing of that otherwise accommodating planetary pair-up. Will be interesting to see what's sparking rebellion the last week of July and mid-October.

When I just can’t seem to get my day going I look to see if the Moon is void of course… and it usually is void, of course, lol!
